Kulongoski expands Oregon’s State Parks
August 8th, 2006
We know that Kulongoski meekly opposed Measure 37. And pushed for the Gorge Casino. And aggressively tried to expand Measure 37’s damage via waiver transference.
So it’s nice to read how Oregon is getting several new state parks (first in 30 years) thanks to Ted (PDF of the parks).
Brian Booth, the former longtime chairman of the state parks commission, says the governor deserves credit for helping spur what is being viewed as a renaissance for a state park system that just 10 years ago was on the brink of collapse.
And just so you remember which party is friends with the environment, consider:
He remembers the bleak days in 1996 when the parks commission was threatening to close dozens of state parks and Republican lawmakers were pushing a bill to privatize and commercialize others.
Privatizing our parks? Wow.
Remember this when we consider Saxton versus Kulongoski this November. Despite his flaws, you can be sure that Ted won’t privatize our parks.
