Dave Hunnicutt admits Measure 37 went too far?
September 16th, 2007
That’s what it sounds like to me in this quote, at least:
“I think the average Oregonian would like to see some sort of compromise, not a repeal - and that’s exactly what (Measure) 49 is,” he said.
For a lawyer, Hunnicutt’s language is notably imprecise. In the first part of the sentence, he clearly suggests that the average Oregonian thinks Measure 37 went too far and they want a compromise. It’s great that Mr. Hunnicutt has come around to accept this point, and now apparently realizes that the massive pro-property rights rebellion he envisioned taking place nationwide is DOA.
But it’s the second part of the sentence that is most weird. Indeed, just imagine I said the following to you:
“The people next door want apples, not oranges - and that’s exactly what’s on that tree over there.”
So what’s on the tree, apples or oranges? And what does Dave think Measure 49 is, a compromise or a repeal?
Hehe.
Incidentally, notice how this article gives 10 paragraphs to anti-49ers and only 2 paragraphs to pro-49ers?
P.S., I find it bizarre that this guy keeps track of me.
P.P.S., I am noticing a lot of traffic to my site from this pro-firearms site. Since it is a Members’ Only Forum, I can’t see what exactly they are saying about me. Should I be concerned?

We need to do everything within our power to encourage the folks who run outfits like RinoWatch – they’re the best friends progressive have since apparently their raison d’être is to purge the Republican Party of even the veneer of moderation. The further to the right they goose-step the GOP the better it is for Oregon.

Doesn’t matter what Hunnicutt thinks — only what the rest of the country thinks: M37 sucks.
“After two years of assessing Measure 37’s effect on Oregon, almost all of 2006 takings measures were resoundingly defeated by voters.”
